Spirit & Flesh magazine proudly introduces their FREEDOM issue featuring JUSSIE SMOLLETT in a Cover Story, Interview and Fashion Editorial. SMOLLETT stars as Jamal Lyon in the hit show, EMPIRE, whose much anticipated fifth season premiere airs on September 26, at 8/7c on Fox.

The celebratory event, a cocktail party, included a VIP list of guests from the realms of music, fashion, art, and entertainment. With the high profile guest-list and trendy setting at The Seville, 22 east 29th street, it very appropriately felt like it could be from a scene of EMPIRE itself.

Jussie, speaking to the attendees, didn’t hold back his excitement and enthusiasm for Season 5, which includes an episode he directed, saying that it was the best season yet. Much of the music at the event was from Jussie’s highly acclaimed album, Sum of My Music, setting a magical vibe and creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation for what’s to come. Several clips from Season 5 of EMPIRE were playing for the guests, giving an exclusive sneak peek at what awaits the Lyon family.

There was just much to celebrate and honor Jussie for. Over the course of the year, he has been busy releasing and touring with Sum of My Music, earning a variety of acting accolades, premiering a new season of Empire, directing one of its episodes, and publishing his first cookbook, The Family Table. Ever striving for excellence, Jussie Smollett won’t stop pushing the boundaries. “I haven’t reached my proudest moment yet…” Jussie remarks in his exclusive interview in Spirit & Flesh’s FREEDOM edition.
